Delay to Kickstarter Launch

Hey everyone, this isn't a message I was looking forward to putting out, but unfortunately it looks like it's unavoidable.

In my last update, I said we were looking forward to a KS launch in June. That might still be the case, but if so, it's still not going to be on our original schedule.

The issue we're facing is that we're unable to get in contact with Hoshiineko, the sprite and CG artist for the demo. While she'd said she would be available for work on the full game at launch, we haven't been able to get in touch with her since we scheduled our original launch plans. Since this kind of extended absence isn't normal behavior for her in our experience working with her, we're becoming increasingly concerned that something has happened to her, but in any case, we can't reasonably head into the KS launch not knowing who's going to be filling one of the most essential roles in the project's development.

In the meantime, since it's looking increasingly likely that Hoshiineko won't be available for further work on the game, I've been looking at potential candidates to take over the position. I don't want to sell anyone a false bill of goods by launching a KS for the game without an artist who'll be able to live up to the expectations set by the demo, and Hoshiineko leaves some difficult shoes to fill, but I'm in touch with some candidates I'm quite hopeful about. If we're able to settle on an appropriate candidate, we'll have to recalculate the the budget accordingly afterwards, but hopefully we'll be able to move forward on that soon.

That really is concerning, I hope Hoshiineko is okay. An understandable reason delay the kickstarter - Good luck finding an artist who can fill in the role, it may be tough but there are lots of talented folks out there!

I'm in discussions with a promising candidate right now, but before moving forward with the KS, we're waiting for her to complete a test commission of content from the game. That way in addition to getting a sense for what she's like to work with in practice, we can also calibrate deadline expectations around the pace of completion.

Man, this sucks. Lot of VNs have issues because of their artists. Hope this problem can be solved.

That’s quite an issue. I hope you can find an artist without too much trouble!
